Roanoke’s Home Movie Day will be an open screening on Saturday,
November 1st, in which members of the community will be asked to bring in home
movies. The films will then be inspected by trained archivists and then
projected in front of an audience. The owners of the films are encouraged to
briefly introduce and narrate the films. Home movies do not need to be your own
family's but can also include found movies. Formats accepted: 8mm, Super 8, and
16mm.
There will be information available on how to properly care for
your movies, information on transfer options and local vendors, and fun prizes
to give away!
If you have a movie to show, we would prefer you arrive at 10am to
drop your film off for inspection and projection preparation. We would
especially appreciate anyone dropping films off before the event day by contacting
Alicia Sell at the Roanoke Public Libraries Virginia Room. Email
alicia.sell@roanokeva.gov or call
540.853.2073 to arrange an early drop-off.
